Please, Denounce Racism and White Supremacy Immediately

President Trump, you should have clearly and unequivocally denounced racism and white supremacy immediately, without trying to pin the blame on “both sides” or whatever other un-related group comes to mind. Your delayed statement does not redeem yourself. It should be easy and automatic to condemn and call out white supremacist groups like the Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis. I never thought I would see a current United States President who is afraid to do so.
America has come a long way since the days of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr., but we still have lots of progress to go before we can truly claim that America provides an equal playing field for its citizens.
In the past, I have always told people that I would never use Twitter. I eventually had to sign up to test some features for the BAIR blog since the posts there are “tweeted” via the BAIR Twitter account. I was going to disable my account now that these tests are done, but then I saw the lovely tweet by former President Obama above. I hit “like” on it, and will keep my account active for that reason only. I hope it will remain the most liked tweet forever.
